My God who hears, speaks and answers…

My mom had been fighting cancer for a number of years. As I grew up, she never came to church with me nor my brothers but was supportive of us going to church. In June, I went for a visit her before my family and I took off to Europe for six weeks.

I prayed with mom while I was there. One of the first times she was open to that. One day dad asked me if I could cancel my mom’s doctor appointment as she did not want to go. I thought wow thanks God. I had plans to see if I could go talk to her doctor to see how much longer she had and an opportunity had just been placed in my lap!

I did not cancel the appointment and met with the doctor. He asked me what I was most worried about. I told him her pain and then started crying and told him I was worried about whether I would see her in heaven as my mom did not have a relationship with Jesus. He told me not to worry. He would take care of it.

I found out from my dad after my mom passed that the doctor came to the house and visited with mom and spoke to her about the realization that she was dying.  He then asked her “where are you going after that?"

That had a profound effect on my mom.

Days later when in Paris, I was walking on my own and went into a church I saw. I sat down and prayed and God spoke to me and told me to reach out to my dad’s pastor. I got ahold of his number and called him. I let him know my mom was in the last few weeks of her life and asked if he could speak to her about salvation.

He went the next day and spoke to mom about her faith and when he left he felt she had made a decision to follow Christ. An incredible answered prayer and a heavy, heavy weight lifted from heart.

In the weeks that have followed, I have peace knowing where she is. Her funeral became a celebration and I feel much relief and joy knowing I will see my mom in heaven.
